The Confederate States of America

The Confederate States of America consisted of 11 southern states that seceded from the Union. Those Southern states are:

  1. Mississippi
  2. Florida
  3. Alabama
  4. South Carolina
  5. Georgia
  6. Louisiana
  7. Arkansas
  8. North Carolina
  9. Tennessee
  10. Texas
  11. Virginia
During the Civil War, The Confederate States of America had approximately 1.2 million men in the Confederate army. In 3 years, 800,00 men enlisted for the Confederate army. Of those 1.2 million, 250,000 men died in action or diseases. 340,000 casualties also occured. The Confederate Army was led by General Robert E. Lee. Lee led the Confederate army to Fredricksburg and Chancellorsville where they defeated the Union. The Confederacy was fighting to save slavery. In 1865 the Union defeated the Confederate Army in the Civil War.
