The civil war went from 1861 to 1665. It was a fight between the United States and several slave states. Massachusetts dominated the anitslavery movement. They influenced public option and applied moral and political pressure on congress to abolish slavery. They motivated nations acorss the world. This, increased sectionalism in the North and South, which was one of the factors that led to the war. Abraham Lincoln opposed expanding slavery into the United States which led to more controversy.
